18x24, oil, studio. When packing up my supplies after painting plein air, I looked back and was struck by the warmth of the last light on the cabins at John Sevier's birthplace, Marble Springs, in Knoxville.
20x24, oil on deep gallery wrapped stretched canvas. Painted two sessions near Newfound Gap. I was struck by the contrast of the tall evergreens and the mountain layers and cuts.
14x18 oil. We stopped for the view on the North Carolina side of the Smokies. I was struck by the beauty of the mountains, trees and bushes and photographed it, knowing I'd want to paint it someday!
